Red C2 on Ebay

Looking Bruce's ebay picture, the mph numbers are in increments of 20 e.g. 20-40-60-80....
On my C2's clocks the mph is in increments of 10 e.g. 10-20-30-40....

The scale looks the same, just not all the numbers printed. There also appears to be something printed under the LCD display of the speedo.

Strange. o_O

The figures stop at 140 instead of 150 although the scale goes to where 150 would be.
The kph scale is not in red and the 'MPH' at the bottom of the dial is in lower case rather than block capitals.

On my C2 clocks 'MPH' is printed just under the needle spindle and not under the LCD. 'km/h' is printed at the top between the mph and kmh scales.

In Aussie spec, Bruce would have had kmh dials so could it have had a custom dial face fitted to show mph?
I wonder if the odo reading is in kmh (and the trip computer) or has it been reprogrammed?
Two good questions to ask the previous owner.

Here's a pic of mine to compare with a more detailed pic of Bruce's once posted....

EDIT: the kph scale on Bruce appears to have the numbers on the outside of the scale rather than the inside.

All this leads to an interesting question: Just how much of the finishing of these cars was done in Germany?

I was always under the impression that clocks, centre console controls, lights and glass were all installed there. Looks like that might not be true.

I'd love to talk with someone who worked at Flat Rock.

I've taken a leaf out of Paul's (procomm) book and contacted Ford directly on the subject of what was actually done in Germany.
I emailed customer services in Koln and I'll post the email reply I had when I can get on my PC.

According to their Ford Expert the cars both LHD and RHD were completed at Flat Rock.
The gist of his quote is: 'all modifications were made before the cars left Flat Rock'.

Why would Ford ship components made in the U.S. and Mexico to Germany to put into vehicles they'd already sent down a production line?
The only thing I can think of that was probably fitted here were the headunits which were made in Portugal. The U.S. ones were made in Mexico.

Thanks for clearing that up Andy. The answer is just as I thought.
Honestly, retrofitting RHD, heated windscreens, lights, badges etc. introduces so much opportunity to ruin quality control (damaged paintwork, loose fittings etc.).

BTW when I ordered my ST200 badge it was sent from the USA. There you go, a European spec part, stocked in the USA.

Well spotted I 'd missed that !
I suppose it is possible that the speedo was recalibraed for UK use, will have to check with original owner.

Update, finally managed to get rear no. plate off, looks like there is a 'plug' missing from centre fitting, having checked one of my other C2'S, no big deal but odd as I'm sure those plates have been on there since it was registered in UK....
Anyway, I fully intend to get Bruce refurbished, doesn't seem to need a lot, just some paintwork etc.
The dealer I bought from put a new MOT on the car so off to a good start...
Thanks again to everyone for the interest/info and look forward to Fest.

Pic of C2 Cougar clocks from car for sale in Australia... interesting http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Ford-Cougar-2001/OAG-AD-12278627/?Cr=0

So if a custom dial face was made, it looks like they followed the design that was already there.
The temp gauge is also missing C and H.
I wonder how it looks when illuminated at night. The kmh scale, top mark on the temp gauge, and red line scale would normally light up as red.
