Red C2 on Ebay

One thing that may be interesting, I looked it up on DVLA's vehicle check and compared with mine. Type Approval and CO2 Emissions are 'not available'.
With any luck, the tax may have to be based on the pre-2001 system based on engine size. That may save you a few quid Will.

Definitely an Australian stray. It was setup for Aussie emissions and it's probably been sent here in error and registered to save re-shipping. Unless it was imported new. An HPI report will give you the import date if it is one.

Well the first thing I saw when i pulled up at Wil's was a very famous club car looking as good as ever(y)

And you haven't posted us any photos? We're not angry, Matt, just disappointed.

All good things........(y)

When I checked it on the DVLA site there was no import marker.
If it was Aussie spec, all they had to change would be the clocks - a lot cheaper than shipping around the world.

Do the sill trims have Ford or Cougar head logos?

Looks amazing! But is it just the photo or are the side repeaters different colours? Passenger lens looks orange and drivers clear! Or just faded?

Thanks for calling in Matt, and sharing your enthusiasm for this special Cougar.

I'm still taking it in really. It is such a great colour, why oh why didn't Ford make it available in UK, they would have sold well?!

Took it for a spin round the block earlier, and it drives well. The Ali pedals make it a bit different to drive than my other Cougs with 'normal' pedals.

Well blimey cobber, so it seems I have a dinkum Aussie Cougar!

I will check HPI and report back.

When Matt was here we noticed two more details....
Sticker on door (will post pic),
and top of Vin palte has Build Date (which is not on his or any of my other C2'S).

Turned out to be an optical illusion on orignal photo! lol

Brrrrr..... sends a shiver dunnit!
That will absolutely gleam when that dust is removed. Aussie, Yank, whatever, damn good looking car.I don't mind saying, if i had the space, there would have been more bids going in. Well done Wil (y)

OK, have done HPI check:

Recorded as NOT an import
Colours changes NONE

V5 shows ONE owner from new
Declared new at first registration 19/09/2002

Have contacted previous owner and awaiting reply.

I didn't know any were sold in 2003.
As interest ,how do you know this?
Do we know if there are any 03 plates left?
Thanks for your interest, the more I learn about this car the more interesting it gets, will be good if I can get some nore details from previous owner.

It's a stray cat then lol [emoji23]

Last registered Cougars I believe were on a 53 plate.

I wonder if the twin exhausts were from new?
Was that ever an origianl option on a Cougar (worldwide)?

I have it listed in a brochure as 'std' on an 'S' Cougar.

... I know there are a few sold in 2003 as well.
Don't forget, '52' went into 2003.

2003, '52', '03', '53'

Likewise 2004 started with '53'

Also any 1998-2002 Cougar imported and given an age-related VRM in 2003 (or even resurrected from written-off status) would also be recorded as a new registration in the statistics for 2003.
