Shattered balls.. not good dude.

I remember conversations with Mani at Tony's minifixswapmeet, I'm pretty sure he said the aux idler pulley had recently been replaced and I know his water pump tensioner is pretty new too. So could probably rule those parts out.

guys, if you all want to, your all more than welcome to come over on the weekend you all choose and my mrs/me will make you all food and will buy free booze! just pm me if you need my postcode to get here and we can make a day of it?

option2
if nobody comes, its ok with me because i can order the parts and tow to my trusting garage. i still feel guilty for having to drag you all to bucks.

topcat dude, you've been pmed!

I also told Kully over the phone that i would post one of you guys a quality drink of your choice so that you all can enjoy it at the fest, but if i get the weekend free, i can possibly attend and bring that drink of choice for all of you. Its a big thank you from my wife and me for such lovely people whos friendship would be priceless indeed.

I'd love to help Mani but I'm afraid I'm just not in a position to do a round trip of that mileage while I am only getting contributions based jobseekers dude :( there are enough guys down that way though that I am sure can get this sorted would have been nice to have been able to help.

i don't think the water pump was replaced, but just the tensioner and belt Manos. i will most probably purchase both from paynes tonight though.

dont worry JJ dude. its the thought that counts with me. I hope you find work soon dude, i know how it is because i was made redundant a year ago, now im self employed with a dying printing business and now a childminders assistant (my wife) lol. Its just amazing to see how everyone pulls together in a situation tough! like i said guys, no pressure to come all the way to bucks. i can tow my old battleship to mr Bosch if arrangements dont work out.

You can easilly check the water pump by slipping the belt off and start the engine. If the noise has gone its the pump.

No it self tensioner litterally squeeze the tensioner the belt will come loose (PS make sure the engine isnt running)

If its an easy fix can we still come down and have a "no need to fix it so let's party" meet? :)

Sure guys, why not? would be great to see you all again

and by the way, i have narrowed it down to the starter motor. will be towing the car up to Bosch next week and will order parts this week!

Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant news Mani they will need to check the flywheel ring gear for damage else they could knacker the new starter and definitely worth putting a new starter in than second hand if you have the wonga to do it.

Sorry wish I'd seen this yesterday because your not to far from me I dont think and i was only out shopping so would have welcomed the break ;-) Also would deffo have recognised the noise as mine does it every now and again on starting for about a second.
