supercharger

Not now you would be looking at £10,000 just to build the engine and the supercharger. The compression is to high in the stadard engine.

Thundercat was supercharged.

It was one of the cars i broke for spares and the supercharger was bought by a Ford race specialst darn sarf

And it didn't work.

Nautilus in the US supply some turbo kits for the Duratec 2.5 and 3.0 V6.

They also have a 3.7 shortblock Duratec, not that I have ever considered anything like that.

£10.000 OMG i was willing to put £2-3k at very most for supercharged.was told supercharge was the way to go rather then turbo a v6 as its alot cheaper and just need to be bolted on. not true?

the correct ecu set up will cost you nearly your entire budget.

Turbo'ing a v6 can be done, in fact a twin turbo can be done, but the best way of achieving it is with a zetec.

Snowcat was running at 348bhp iirc......and the set up from that will soon be in another cougar.....if the owner gets his arse into gear ;-)

yup.

A 2-3k budget might get you an st220 set up.

Mind you, there is a car for sale on scc for £2250 and would save you the trouble!

i have heard that so many times in fairness. Just be 100 per cent sure what you are getting into - and then have a contingency fund ready

As above, think very critically on this before jumping in. It's not vanilla work and needs much more improvisation and fundamental understanding than first seems apparent.

I realise this is a Cougar club but it would be foolish not to step back and consider what else you could spend that money on that would be the better car.

If that seems negative, then consider this - pretty much every big power project Frankenstein Cougar has ended its life very shortly after "completion" with an exhausted owner who ran out of enthusiasm.

It's this more than anything else that has me stopping short of any forced induction. I very might be nuts enough to grab a 3.7 but only as it'll be a pretty much straight swap if the time ever comes; but even that is unlikely.

Also for what it's worth a 220 engine is plenty; and still allows for some tuning tinkerage. :)

Plus, N/A engines are just better.

Saw a second hand supercharger on US ebay for the 2.0 black top not so long ago, but it was stupid money if i remember correctly about £4000, then you have to ship it over, and probably pay someone to fit it
