TopCats Bikes Thread

Noel, these are now illegal to sell to general numpties in the uk thanks to all the acid attacks that happened, any you see should state that they can only be sold to registered businesses, hence all the gel or lithium batteries on the market now.
As for the battery tester i will be looking into one lol

TC.
”Now i have 2 working bikes”

Just the one Ar$e though.
Yes I am jealous.

Back on battery testing. The unfortunate thing is Halfords have a really good business model.
When they first offered a service to fit windscreen wipers and lamps ( Bulbs, to use the popular incorrect term )
I thought what nonsense is this.
It turns out there is a country full of drivers who are incapable of the most basic maintenance and Halfords have turned that into a revenue stream, which in turns demands staff to provide the service.

Like all employers they are trying to find solutions to staff that know little or nothing about the goods they sell. Resulting in, the computer says X so it must be right and the customer is wrong. We know better.

Guys like us, that have knowledge greater than Joe Bloggs and Halfords employees, don’t fit their business model. In their world it ( We ) does not compute.

However Knowledge is Power. You are right, the testing process is not fit for purpose. That’s not the fault of the staff.

was that the huntingdon one tony... ive had many verbal's with them idiots!
here's a few.
brought a magnet phone holder(scorsch ones) ,went to fit it outside the store and the foam pad acted like someone had put wd40 on it, yes i used the alcohol wipes on the dash etc but it simply would not grab at all!
went back in the shop and explained ,got the did u follow the instructions crap...yes..
then he said you must have let it dry out! at which point i gave him a bloody earful and shoved the receipt in his face with the time stating i brought it 20 mins ago.
he then said ok we sell the foam pads, can i fit it for u....win i thought!
ok yes.
so outside by my van(work) he started wiping down the dash etc with the cleaner pads ,then he got the new pad and stuck it to the mount......
it did the same...refused to stick, just fell off!
see! i said.
now bare in mind my van was brand new.. and not owned by me.
he then said i know what'll do it, we have this glue for rear view mirrors ,it wont come off with that...
erm no thanks, its not allowed to be permanent hence why i wanted the foam pads type.
i showed him the box, will stick to ANYTHING!
i got my money back... ironically i brought a halfords version from the cambridge shop and that stuck fine.

this one really effed me off.
huntingdon branch again..
so u know i had the core plugs burst on the focus b4 christmas.
well being immersed in water wasn't good for the spark plugs ,ill nip down to Huntingdon and get some plugs.
after queuing for 20 mins as they only had one young lady on the parts desk, can i help u sir..
yes i need 4 spark plugs for a 2012 focus, gave the reg.
we dont have any in.
oh when can u get some.
new year....... im annoyed now!
does any other stores have em..
she checks.
no.
what she said next really made me blow a fuse.
she clearly saw my displeasure and said "its an old car...we don't stock stuff for old cars"
WHAT!
one of the most popular and common ford cars on the road and u dont have them......no!
dont u think u should have them for old cars considering new cars arnt likely to need new *****g spark plugs.

i had to leave or i was going to get banned.

this also shocked me.
sat in the car and i googled car part shops, loads of halfords, tcharrison fords and one tyre company. that was closed....wtf
i moved to stneots year 1997 and we had 4 car part shops back then who would fall over themselves to get the part u wanted....i even remember asking for a mk2 escort clutch plate and they HAD ONE IN STOCK!
now google could barely manage 3 part shops in a larger area and a well known place like Huntingdon.

all was not lost tho..
i found euro car parts in bedford had them....altho they were NGK ,why do fords hate NGK...i can tell it hates em(focus)

i don know why but that Huntingdon store always grates on me.

Yeah I used JM's for years, if he's the one who moved to near the old video store, cos thats where my mate used to work for quite a few years lol
Huntingdon has:
Halfords - obviously lol
MotoServ - Just round the corner from Tyre Pros, do over the counter service stuff and deliver to most garages in the area,
MPD (Motor Parts Direct) - Round the back of Screwfix on st peters rd, usual over the counter stuff and deliver to most garages in the area,
Bennets - Also similar, opposite Toolstation/FS Trailers also on St Peters rd

Few others for Trucks etc, but they are your main ones

The 1 being this...............
A 2018 Triumph Thruxton R with a princely mileage of 4432 😲
It's not often you get chances to do stuff like getting the bike or car you actually want rather than need lol so when ya do, grab it with both hands

I've discovered it has a couple of issues, like a couple of dents in the tank and the top yoke bolts not being done up and a couple of cracks in the fairing, which was also a bit on the skew, so will be giving it a proper nut and bolt check over the next couple of weeks before putting it on the road....... and to think i rode this up and down the farm road before discovering any of this lol always check your rides boys n girls, always check your rides lol

I can ride a motorbike, (though I'm not actually licensed for anything other than a moped) but I think that if I wanted one I'd definitely have something like that Suzi DR.

No, I am not in the market - sorry Tony!

Suits me down to the ground, even though my ex from about 32 years ago said that I looked awesome on her ZZR-600.

I've just realised that her fear response was a LOT higher than mine. Chick was a damned maniac.
