What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Well, finally got to start doing a few bits on my coug. So yesterday I pulled the rear light lenses off and removed the light mask. I've pulled off that horrible vinyl carbon look-a-like stuff. So, the lenses have been cleaned and polished and put back onto the car. The light masks have had all the vinyl removed, all the sticky removed and then cleaned and then given a good key ready for spraying next week.

So finally getting by bum into gear. Lets see how much I can get done before Combe :)

Got lots of other things in store, just a case of ordering the bits and getting them onto the car. Not going to give away just yet of what I have in mind, but it should look a little different to what it does now. It's also a question of budget too lol.

Is that a ST220 TB on a standard UIM?

From what I know most of the ST200 UIM's are usually black, certainly the one I have is, although it will not be staying that colour.

There are two sizes, older cars have smaller intakes and can be identified by a flat injector loom, later cars have a larger LIM and have a rounded injector loom, you also need the large one to fit an ST200 UIM

Dan, if the info for your car on ETIS is correct it was built in August '99 so should have the larger LIM as the changeover from the smaller LIM happened during May '99.
My first Cougar had an engine build date of 20.5.99 and that had the larger LIM.

Had the car up on the ramps today doing the handbrakes, whilst under noticed some surface rust.

Gave it a good rub down, coat of rust killer then applied a layer of paint.

Just a reminder to all to keep on top of this if you want your cat to have a long life (y)

...as i always say, any time you're under there, just have a quick visual for rust or just loss of paint/protection especially at jacking poin areas.

Changed the water pump tensioner..no more squeaky starts :)

Strangely the bolt I got from the FINIS code is different to what was on the car, on the car already was a 10mm fully threaded bolt and the FINIS is a 8mm half threaded bolt

New vs old

Watchout! Tims got the spanners out! :)

Only joking mate. Good to see stuff being done. Roll on summer. ;)

Actually getting the spray can out this afternoon and start spraying my light mask for the rear lenses. Going back to the painted black look, same as I did originally before I had the stupid idea of trying to wrap them in vinyl lol!!!
