What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Thank you, was still shiny from Ford Fair. We used Selecta Tyre at Kettering £59.88 all in.

Thanks for the heads-up! Apparently my local (and trusted) tyre guys won't do 4-wheel alignment.

That price would be worth the cost of the petrol to drive from MK to Kettering.

Did you have to book it?

Ricky, I honestly appreciate that. But I won't take Tiger anywhere near or by a Kwik Fit.

They refused to even change a tyre. When I asked why, they admitted that their fitters are incompetent and can't cope with anything that isn't standard. I'm not going to dig out the post I put up at the time - it's in my build thread - but their email to me was included and said as much.

I appreciated the honesty but I don't like the reality.

The other half once fell for the half price MOT quick fit scam, warned her agaisnt it but she didnt listen

Of course it failed the MOT and they wanted nearly £600 for , 2 new rear coil springs , 2 new rear calipers, all new discs and pads all around due to the handbrake being below requirements and two new headlight bulbs.

On inspection myself only issue was one rear spring had a slight corrison to one of the bottom coils everything else seemed fine to me, I changed that myself for £20 and did none of the other work took it to my normal MOT guy and it passed with no advisorys.

Take from that what you will but I wouldnt even trust quick fit to check my tyre pressure

I stay clear of them too, many years ago I took my mk11 escort mexico for a rear box on it and they said it needed a new manifold and studs fitting as well, the look on their face when I told them my dad and me had only changed them the week before so there was no way they needed to be done, told em to stick the exhaust where the sun don't shine.

Garages i steer clear of full stop! except of course for MOT, and i know that's not viable for a lot of people, and i know all the horror stories about Kwik-Fit but, i will stand in my local branch's defence, or at least the cefence of an old Ford guy who used to work there.
They were doing the annual AC deal so i went up and let them do their thang. The AC lasted 2 days so i went back and this guy (X Ford) told me how he used to work on these cars on the distribution iirc and he loved them and he would do what he could to put it right but he might need to keep the car over night. When i questioned the Kwik-FIT night shift, he said that he works overnight doing odd jobs. To cut this short, basically he removed my AC compressor, fixed or replaced it , i can't remember which, then regassed it. Cost? Naaa mate, it was a pleasure to work on the car ;), so i gave him £20, well worth it. I still wouldn't let them put my car on a lift though

Thats what my SVT lower looked like when I got Jane, except for the holes in mine had gotten bored out to be larger [emoji3]. as for the valves, I think you may have to at least pull the head. Have you tried wiping it out with a rag on the end of a screwdriver or something similar?

New Kumho 225`s fitted, now have a matching set

Wired secondaries open to see the difference, it is huge!

If anybody has a working IMRC please sell it to me, the one I fitted from my ebony doesn`t seem to work on Sheila :cautious:
