Started what will be a week long cleaning/shining process on the C2.
Today I did the wheels, gave it a thorough hoovering and cleaned/conditioned the leather.
Also had time to strip the paint on my mini Coug.
Jon you have a floor for the other one too, no doubt but for the lock down she'd be making good progress.
And thanks for laughing at my risky humour.
Good luck to you mate.
Finally got around to pulling Tiger's alternator, which was important because it was a long-term loan - it doesn't belong to me. Still spins freely, but I imagine it'll be restored before it ever goes on another car.
Still waiting on my impact sockets, which I'll need to get the passenger seat out. They're a week late from Amazon, but given the way things are at the moment it's hardly surprising that they've been de-prioritised.
Took Wildcat to the most distant shops that I could justify then took the long way home, just to get some heat in her oil. I imagine there's going to be a lot of cars running very rich for a while when this is all over.
Going a little of topic about Amazon is very strange at the moment.
I ordered some plumbing items which normally would be same or next day and it took 5 days, but this morning I ordered a new folding chair which had a delivery date of next Saturday and its came this afternoon, but the multiplug I ordered is not due to next week ( all prime) , its very strange in some cases what they are prioritizing
Back on topic the engine mount that Andy posted in the ebay thread arrived today so ill be doing that to my Cougar T̶o̶d̶a̶y̶ another day
Agreed - there doesn't seem to be any consistency really..
Cat treats via Prime? Next day.
PC steering wheel/pedals from Poland via Prime? Three days.
Impact sockets via Prime? Eight days late and still not here.
Hmm. Kind of feels like the most important one, which someone might need for their living, is the only one that hasn't made it.
Anyway, while I've got your attention Dan...
Removed just now... don't ask. All I'll say is that this job is alternator-levels of ugly, and all you need from this whole assembly is the lock barrel, which can be easily removed from this whole pile of junk.
Nice one! I'll be happy to help you reinstall, but make sure you have the plastics that the rods go into first. One of your old ones simply shattered in much the same way that the IMRC bar ones do.
Also, the handle surround came apart, (because the captive nut decided to rip itself out of the plastic) and since my mission was rescuing the lock barrel, I swore at it, forced it, and broke it off. But I've got what you need.
Im sure we will be able to make some sort of monster hybrid from the two of them that will work for some reason the one on there now only locks with the key not with the fob
Waitwaitwait - if it only locks with the key and not the fob, that's got to be electrical. The car has no idea how the lock/key is cut and literally doesn't care.
Either the connector isn't properly home, or the motor has failed. Does it unlock on the fob?
Until we sort this out - and we will - I'll keep hold of the entire assembly and we can (as you say) Frankenstein it as necessary.
It wont lock/unlock with the fob but if I lock the drivers door with the key it locks all the doors and again unlocks all doors if I open the drivers door with the key.
I first thought it was something to do with the aftermarket alarm but that would be ecu side sending the signal surely notjing to do with the lock
Im going to hedge bet towards motor just to be different and make it interesting
What makes me think that too is the alarm makes the doors autolock once the car starts, it attempts to do this on both sides and you see the lock button on the handle go in a little both sides and make the 'locking noise' but then come back out and not lock as if some resistance is stopping it from fully operating
