What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Changed brake light bulb, simple enough but noticed parking lights not working, never used them so can`t say how long they have not been working, is it an MOT req or not important ?

I don't believe they are required for the MOT Colin.

As they use the same bulbs as the side lamps; if they aren't working I would suspect the switch.

Mine just turns the sidelights on, (though the beeper doesn't sound when the door is open) so I never saw the point in it.

Just went out and tried it with the indicator set to L or R and that didn't do anything.

The point of them is so other drivers can see the extremities of your car if you have to leave it on an unlit street, for instance.
On vehicles with an option to have one side or the other illuminated the idea was to only have the outer side illuminated, depending on which way you were facing. (y)

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I meant I didn't see the point of a specific Parking position because all it does is silence the beeper. The beeper that will stop the second you close the door...

If its not an MOT required item then i will leave well alone but next time i go to a breakers i will get a spare switch just in case it packs up.

Finally got round to fitting the heated washer jets and loom kindly givern me by Paul, no idea if there working but there is water comming out the jets and no sign of them bursting into flames so must have done something right...lol.

Do you have front fogs? Because if not, I've got a spare switch that you're welcome to.

Come to think of it, I think I might even have spare double-pull switch here somewhere...

Parking lights are no longer a MOT requirement Colin. Due to the fact we mostly have good street lighting. I do remember my Uncle having to go out just before dusk to set his parking light, back in the early 60's it was a crocodile clip job hanging on the guttering :).
The parking light switch on the cougar is incorporated into the headlight switch, just turn it to the left and you feel the switch pull inwards, away from you.

Well my parking lights are working fine after all, stupid me was checking them with the ignition on and of course they only work with it off, so there was nothing wrong with them :giggle:

think you also have to have indicator switched to side you want on, unless i'm thinking of another make

It was like that on my old Consul Tony. (y)

Bizarrely, Euro spec LHD Cougars had the option to select the RH or LH parking lamps on the switch.

US ones didn't get either.

So, because I have quickly realised that spray painting isnt as easy as it looks or sounds, I have tried my hand at Wrapping & to be honest anyone that can do this to a good standard I take my hat off to you! I was ready to throw it all in the bin half way through.

But, this was my attempt at respraying:

& now this is the vinyl wrap, to be honest for my first attempt I am quite happy, although not perfect but it means that Moe can finally have her spoiler fitted tomorrow :)
