What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

took Gem's cougar to work today as she said its knackered, list of jobs to do
1, change brake fluid
2, front and rear drop links
3, front wheel bearings
4, track rod ends
5, 2 new tyres plus tracking
6, rear subframe
7, front and rear anti roll bar bushes
8, front and rear struts
9, possible gearbox change but might get away with just fluid change
10, possible steering rack change

fun fun fun

So, when are you calling an MFSM?

Well thanks to Alans advice i managed to get the bearing replaced, just need to put it all back together now - i can get new droplinks today no problem but i am struggling to find anywhere that stocks trackrod ends.

So, when are you calling an MFSM?
with no room to put people up and limited parking available, I wont be calling a MFSM, only a days work in total except for the wheel bearings which will be being done at Tony's in a couple of weeks, downside is having just come back off holiday funds are tight for buying all necessary parts so this list will be attacked over a few months but thanks for the interest (y)

I noticed the rear brakes making grinding noise the other day so thought new pads were needed, upon closer inspection I found this

Now the last time I changed the rear discs on my black cat I had a nightmare and it took me 2 1/2 days to get the bolts out , so after buying what I needed I got everything ready - grinder, drill , blow torch, plus gas and all the other tools needed.
The bolts were the original ones but I remembered what Mark said when we did makos rear end- he said put the torque bit in and give it a bloody good belting firstly to seat the bit and secondly to cracking the rust.
I did exactly what Mark said and it resulted in both sides being done in an hour and half, I could not believe how smooth it went.
Pads changed and shiny new discs

Good advice from the Oracle, as always.
I use a flat ended torque bit (a standard one but with the shamfer ground off). I dig out any crap from the bolt head and then as above. Works every time but! not any more as i substituted those pesky bolts for hex (y)

Well, new track rod ends, new drop links discs and pads all round 1 braided brake line and spare calliper, near side front caliper will need changing come summer next year so I can change the pipe to the abs unit and then fit braided line, rear callipers need braided brake lines once I have the adapters not a bad days work, could stop there if I hadn't forgotten to set the rear callipers up so the handbrake would work, job for the morning (y)

Last weekend before blackpool, ofcourse that means cleaning time:
