What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

To get a uim that shiney means it will have been media blasted, unless you know for certain that it was masked up correctly I should be tentative fitting it, have been there before trying to do a favour for another member with Tony, ended up costing us an engine and a fortnight replacing the donkey

Not necessarily Paul. Didn't Steve start his own project of doing this by grinding and polishing the surface of a standard one?

Yes he did, though as far as I know it was never completed to his satisfaction. He was doing the rocker covers too, and I seem to remember that there was some grinding involved. They might have been C2 covers? Or maybe he was getting rid of the IMRC mounts? Not sure.

As a side note, I really appreciate the effort - it looks great - but for me the only part of the car that needs to be shiny is the outside!

correct, started with a wire brush drill attachment then varying grades of sandpaper

was then finished with primer and high temp paint, this was it when fitted:

sorry guys, not been on for a couple of days due to being away with no internet access, anyway the comments from Paul has got me worried about fitting it and the one from Andy also gives me cause for concern as for the proof of it being an ST UIM, does anyone have any pics of a genuine ST UIM, that I can compare this one to, just a pic of the flat part where the throttle body fits, so I can see what Andy was saying about the flat face bit and the rounded bit (not that I don't believe Andy) I need to see it so I can go back to the guy I got it from and prove to him it is not an ST UIM....Also I know everyone is commenting on the finish/polish of it...... I can't, and don't want to take any praise for it as it was like this when I bought it...

cheers Steve, looks like I got conned, will be going back to the guy with this evidence and seeking my money back.....:cautious:..he advertised it as an ST UIM... and as the pics show/prove it IS NOT AN ST UIM........

Then you have a case to send it back if it is not an St200 one. It is a very nice looking item but if you wanted the extra breathing that the St200 one brings then you really need to get the right one.

Paul, was it advertised as an ST200 UIM or just an ST UIM.

Andy.
it was advertised as a Ford Mondeo ST UIM.

SO....:) basically it is my fault..... schoolboy error...... should have asked ST 24 OR ST 200.....DOH.....
looks like I got me a nice shiney paperweight.....:)
