What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

This is in my near future, I think. She runs just fine but I think I've been near the rivets for a while now. No idea whether this is the original clutch or not, but I'm at 140,000.

I know that this might be disappointing given my usual attitude, (and this is not a beg for help) but I am seriously tempted to just give her to a garage. I guess it depends on whether it lets go in January or July!

i was on the rivets by the looks of it, im on 138 now and i reckon probably original. so it was good going, found a bargain old new clutch, branded by national Valeo was the OE, sachs release bearing, febest diff seals, and motul ester gearbox oil all for 130-140 bargain of the century, do it right and once, ok fitting cost me 300, but thats a different story lol.

hows yours doing since i saw you those years ago?

MOT passed.
Work required since first submission on Monday:
Rear shock absorbers replaced.
Rear ARB bushes replaced.
Rear brake discs and pads replaced (failure highlighted a left/right imbalance on both service brake and handbrake).
Also done as I had them, rear droplinks.
'Big' job for my mechanic as the low mileage meant a likelihood many bolts hadn't turned since the car was built.

The tester made no comment about the LED headlamp bulbs.
Front discs ordered as these were noted grooved, for replacement with next service.

Exhaust started knocking [ for the 3rd time ] on Monday, by Tuesday much louder and afraid to drive it further. To the exhaust place today and not one, or even two, but three rubber mounts needed at a grand total of £9 including VAT. I seem to need this done every 4-6 months...

Thats a strange one for sure, Ive only ever had to change one of my mounts and thats only because we had to cut it off when we changed the subframe, im pretty sure the rest are the same as the day she was new..

That's amazing. Perhaps my exhaust was not fitted properly and this is the result. I'll give it another six months and next time I'll see if anything can be done to improve things like remove and refit or heat and bend etc...

OEM, front exhaust rubber(on the flexi) here: (the ones for the middle hanger look similar on the parts diagram even though they have a different FINIS)

Thanks Andy, I very much doubt the ones they fitted today were Ford ones, I'll order some of these and throw them in the boot with my other 'spare bits'...
