What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

My turn today:

Washed, rinsed, dried, coat of Black hole, coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze (which I ran out of before I got to the roof, so that's had a coat of Natty Wax). I even polished the headlights, although they need more work really. Found a few new scratches and dings along the way (as always), but hopefully they're not too obvious if you don't look too closely :).

I was hoping to have my bonnet wrapped by now, but I've been let down on that front... :cautious:

Looks nice Mart
We need more pics of cars being polished, all we get are ebonys.
Is that because they're such a pain to get to look nice? [emoji23]

In a roundabout way at least. I've started refurbishing the steering wheel i bought a few weeks back. It's in pretty good nick anyway but i thought i'd sort it before changing it. With age they all obviously wear and get a glossy shine and gather years of everybody elses grime. Cleaning is done and first job of the scuff treatment is administered leaving the whole wheel with a nice dull look. Such a "hurry up and go" job though. It took 2 minutes to apply but now i have to leave it overnight before a second application.

I picked mine up and took for a drive. First time since before Christmas and I loved it! :)

Probably left the storage permanently now so I do have a headache for the autumn, but it feels nice having it to hand. I forgot how 'loose' the rear suspension is, how weak the front are (compared to my daily) and generally how in need of some TLC it is. Hopefully I'll be able to start getting some bits installed and some anti corrosion treatments done soon.

It's great.

I've painted the alloy wheel plastic centrecaps to match the refurb/powdercoating I had done last year.
Not posting finished pics yet until tyres fitted and to the car, but I need replacement 'Ford' logo stickers so here is a pre image for Al.IMG_20190419_112827.jpgIMG_20190419_112832.jpg

Very nice. I look forward to the Ricky Smith masterclass in detailing white cars, I find it incredibly frustrating doing mine as you 'lose' the dried wax or polish that still needs to be buffed and it seems impossible to achieve any kind of deep shine.

Ricky you need a photoshoot of the R34 and MOE together :D(y).

Anyway I took out the rear subframe today, took the ARB and control arms off. Compared stock ARB with BAT 21mm one, looks good. Going to give them all a little bit of rust treatment and clean up.

Moved her off the drive to allow Jinxy out to play. And by "play" I mean "Have her cambelts changed and then go for a blast across MK with dad."

Less than 5000 miles since the last change, (she does maybe 250-300 miles a year these days) but just shy of 7 years which is 2 years longer than Rover recommended... back when they existed.

As you probably all know, rubber hardens over time so although the belts that came off looked pristine - still had the Gates logo on the backside which runs over the tensioner FFS - there was still the risk of stripping teeth. And yes, the K is an interference engine.

Anyway she had a glorious run and we both have an enormous affection for that high-revving lunatic.

Tomorrow, Tiger gets a snowfoam and bath, followed by a start on her offside paintwork. If I have time I'll strip back those rear lights that went so horribly wrong and start again. Much adoration for her, too.

Cheers!
