Camping details and booking confirmation for Grendon Lakes

Phoned Grendon to book a pitch this morning and asked them about how the place was with all the rain there's been, she was honest and said that they had been flooded on Saturday but it was receding very quickly because of the clay ground they have, she didn't know what the weather was to be like this week ( she said she had given up trusting the weather reports ) but if it got too bad they would phone and let people know.

Sun is shining up here at the mo, so fingers crossed for a good week !!

I'll call Monday Matt, I don't think any of those images are the camping field apart from the parked cars by wooden posts. The field itself has drainage on all four sides which are deep so it only needs the river to drop and I reckon it'll drain well.

I will phone Lucy Monday too see how it's looking
amazing the difference 48 hours can make.

JJ

Any update on this Jase?? Jackie is starting to get cold feet and doesn't fancy pitching up in a muddy puddle

As the above post says Iain. Until it gets to Thursday to be honest we won't be any the wiser as it was discussed earlier it could be fine till Thursday then another huge days rain could cause problems again.

All I will say is the drainage must be pretty good as one of the other years was very wet with rain most of the preceding week yet the ground stayed firm. I will be speaking with them Wednesday to get a better idea of how it looks then, from memory all bar one field lie lower than the one we camp in and have stream beds running along the camping field so unless we have a consistent 3 days of heavy rain (possible but unlikely) I would say its good to go.

Cheers Jase - sure hope it does dry up a bit. I'm good to go anyway as I'm booked in at MIJ for a bit of exhaust work on Friday morning so I'm 3/4 of the way there anyway!!

Long range forecast according to countryfile says dry on Friday, so at least we should get some tents up in the dry. After that, i don't give a toss, it's.............................................................................

That's the spirit Al!!

Roll on the weekend

Yeah I watched country file on Sunday and it said weather would improve the end of the week as the jet stream moves up north the rain will follow (parts up the top of Scotland have been having a drought) certainly looking. Better today than yesterday so thats a start.

Got 1 motorhome to get in and also got to get my new "tent" and conservatory in too. Trust me it's gonna need some room lol.

Dammit!! Forgot about the marquee lol, could have crashed out in there Pmsl. Nah, I'll take my comfy bed and my gas fire over a sleeping bag and a camping mat anyday lol.

As long as I'm a reasonable distance to the marquee as I need a plug in point for the fridge for Princess' milk etc.
