SVT-ST200 Upgrade (56k beware)

Thank you Alan now lets wait for the slow roll of people laughing at my mistake of buying them instead of a st200 throttle body in the first place

From the first picture the top body is 5.8mm at the widest point and the bottom one which is supposed to be polished and gasflowed is 5.9mm The polished and gasflowed one was 3 times the price of the other one too. Why couldnt ford just keep the same parts on the same cars. Simmilar typr of problem with the bulb fitments

Rite i now have the st200 throtyle body in my posession all i need now are some new inujector seals and a gasket i forgot to get. Next question... Is the the rubber pipe that atatches to the throttle body ok to use for thr st200 throttle body or do i need an st200 rubber pipeemagig?

Humm i hope not. I was hoping the rubber would streatch around its only a few mm difference after all. I will be using an induction kit too so wont have the use for the airbox :?

You have the extra size of the ST200 TB to get more air into your engine , and the PCM will allow more fuel to be squirted in also.. to increase the power and throttle response... if you then try and use the standard diameter induction hose then you're kinda defeating the object by restricting the airflow again!?

Plus the aftermarket induction cones, unless you fit a really expensive one (such as a BMC or typhoon etc - with cold air feed and an airbox around the cone)..may cause your engine to actually lose power due to drawing in the hot air from the engine bay.. which lowers the density of the air / fuel mix = less power.

IMO the standard ford ST200 airbox and bellows are just fantastic... the development that has gone into it really shows! The volumetric measurements and little resonator parts of the airbox give the engine a gorgeous induction note (and probably allow it to work more efficiently)!!! It also has a snorkel cold air feed which draws air from under the battery tray, and uses a larger version of the port in the NSF inner wing.

You wont get moosing if you have the ST200 parts fitted, the MAF is larger and the vacuum pipes and breathers join in different locations to the standard setup.... in short its well worth getting hold of the other ST parts i reckon you'll love them!! :D

lol cant afford them really been buying this ypgrade foe the past 3 months bit by bit ill take a picture and put a list of all the parts on here soon just to check i have everything i need. So unless someone knows where i can get a cheap st200 rubber hose thing and maybe air flow sensor im buggared.

Haha!!! whoa... i wasnt trying to lecture you or criticise haha   , i know how expensive these parts are, especially with the ridiculous ebay price explosion!!! I was just saying that in my experience if you could get hold of some more bits from the ST200, you wouldnt regret it, because they really are great!

Even if you just squeeze the ST throttle housing onto the standard setup you will still see a difference and be able to enjoy it!!

Just that if you had the bellows and airbox, you would see more improvement... then the extrude honed manifolds, you would see more, and then the green injectors... more still .... etc etc and so on!!

What I meant was that if you had a thick wad of folded money burning a hole in your pocket... and it was down to a choice of standard parts, or buying expensive K&N cones and other bits... then id recommend the standard ST200 option

Good bit of modding though... i cant wait to get my cougar some tasty little treats haha!!!

Just a thought... in the US the ST200 parts are fitted to a vehicle called the contour SVT, theyre still really in demand, but irritatingly the prices are a bit more realistic and down to earth.

Look on ebay.com (the US version of ebay) and maybe you can find a seller willing to post out the parts to UK? The sterling pound is amazingly strong against the US dollar at the mo, something like ?ú1 = $2.1?? i think, so if the shipping costs are ok, you could bag yourself all sorts of goodies? I had a look one day when i was bored and daydreaming again... as you do.... and found someone selling the SVT lower inlet manifolds, with injectors, UIM and throttle housing all collection only and it was about ?ú18 when the auction ended!!! :x :x :x :x :x

Just a thought for something you might not have considered! Over here people get a bit greedy trying to ask ?ú300 just for the SVT UIM???

anyhow good luck with the swapping! 8)

I dont mind being lectured lol especially when i know you are rite just that im trying to do it on the cheap so to speak. Spent nealry 600 on this now started off as a 300 quid project lol As for injectors i was told today at the Piston heads show by a tuning company that there wouldnt be much point in fitting the bigger injectors unless i was going for forced induction (if ony i had a spare 3g lol) He basicaly said thet the ecu is only programmed to put a certain amount of fuel into the engine and a lambda burn is the optimum burn that the ecu can set up so uprating them would be pointless? How much he knows about the Duratec v6 i dont know he seemed to know what he was talking about so im in 2 minds onw about the old injectors. Any help or lectures lol

Got the cams but with a new ecu ill loose half of the cougars trip features which are usefull to some digree lol
