Trip to Oxford to view possible FREE cougars

Trouble is it sounds like the old guy isn't going to be quite so keen to part with these ones without several portraits of the Queen.

This is difficult to say without sounding like a prize (insert term of abuse here), but I suspect the day is not far away when he won't be around to take anyone's money. I don't recall if the poor bloke had any family, but I reckon when that house in Pangbourne needs to be cleared and sold we may hear from our contact again.

Im still amazed that this guy was competing with Will for the amount of Cougars and he wasnt known the the club...
Obviously he liked them at some point...
If we can get in contact with him again, I could sort a transporter to move them again ;)

I have contacted Kevin again today regarding the Pangbourne Cougars. Reason for contact other than this renewed interest was for another interested member. I basically mentioned the renewed interest and this is his reply:

Hello Alan,

No problem carry on, however be aware things have moved on from when you had the last lot of Cougars.

Each of these cars are been put through MOT, to see what is required, and in an attempt to increase the sale price.

All the best,

Kevin.

Make of that what you will.

Well according to the MOT history checker T81HTR hasn't been tested since 2015.
So either they were put through the test process without being recorded, or porky pies are afoot.

Seems he is just after top dollar for them...

Unfortunately at best they are scrap value, 3 years without movement and parked on Grass would have killed the underside..

The one without the body kit the reg is V791 GEV by the look of it?

That had an mot in feb which it passed

Sorry, having re-read the email, 'being' put through the MOT is what should have been written. So if they don't break in half being winched onto a trailer, the MOT test will show they're very poorly indeed. The list of advisories on the garaged one at its last MOT is a big clue:LOL:

I think his reply should read being not been.

You beat me to it, thanks mate(y)

Thanks Dan. Good job you looked at that one! Sounds like the rust has got a hold of the back end though.

...lenient: Do you think that car should have been PASSED!
Look at the sheet, NO body/floor corrosion? it's all bolt on fixes the worst of it being the rear subframe and fuel filler. IMO a very dubious PASS but easily fixable.

I appreciate that I wasn't involved in the acquisition of the first cars, and it seems to have gone well and been a great experience for all involved.

This latest behaviour of issuing a very suspect mot on a vehicle that has been stood for years to make a few quid back is disgusting. Any poor bugger that buys this car expecting a working vehicle is being conned plain and simple. Oh and two perished front tyres and a load of shagged bushings....hope the buyer doesn't have their kids in the car when they fail.

Disgusting

The MOT is there for all to see Steve, including the advisories. Only a fool would buy that car and not expect repairs to be made. Apart from anything else, we all know how difficult these are to sell at the best of times. The mere fact that that sheet doesn't show sill or floor corrosion worries me and i would want to be thumping that regardless.

edit:
according to etis, V791 GEV Outstanding Field Service Actions

That's assuming that someone knowledgeable is the buyer.....someone clueless looking for a cheap runaround gets hold of this thinking a year's ticket = good news would be in for a big shock at best and a death trap at worst.

No excuse for this at all...Arfur Daley could learn a thing or two from this guy.
