What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Well Gemma (purdilicious) had an issue with her ABS and a strange issue when braking, I have fitted a brand new ABS sensor on the rear nearside yet still had the abs lights showing, fitted new discs and pads all round and now the abs issue is sorted, still got an issue with the brakes though which has me flummoxed at present, when you get to the end of the brake pedal travel you get a grinding noise and then a sound that I can only describe as a spring getting wound tight to the point just before it breaks, you also feel this through the pedal. When I changed the front brakes I cleaned up the slides and copper slipped them, copperslipped the back of the pads and ground the rust and copperslipped where the pads sit in the carrier, I am proper confused by it and Gemma is getting annoyed as I wont let her drive it as I don't think its safe anyone any ideas what could cause it?

If it only happens at low speed (<15MPH or so) it's almost certainly the ABS. Most likely a cracked reluctor ring or fouled sensor.

While installing the headers I had a header stud snap on the front so was going to remove the front bumper and radiator in hopes that I could get it out. Ended up just lowering the radiator and doing it all through the grill. Moved the master coolant distribution pipe out of the way to better access all the manifold studs and man prevailed

Do you have any pics of how you got at the rear bank?

I've always been under the impression that installing tubular headers with the engine in situ is nigh on impossible, but you make it sound rather easy!

I actually havnt touched the rear yet. I'll take some pics as I'm at it when I get the front back together. One recommendation that I got was to lower the subframe a bit but we'll see

Dave Chant has done it Rich, and probably many more, doable if you don't mind living out your days with no knuckles from what I hear!

Today i decided to fit my new exhaust,WISH ID NEVER BOTHERED-I had nothing but trouble from the very beginning.
To start with i thought undo the two nuts at the joint behind the cat remove exhaust and then put on new one, first the two nuts were rusted solid so i had to grind them off then i relised what i thought were bolts were in fact welded rods so i had to grind them off and drill out, nearly took my arm off with the grinder and broke god knows how many drill bits in between it p****** it down carried on only to find the holes i had drilled were off centre and now i have no bits left to rectify,so now will have to wait till tomorrow.
Got all my tools together then tripped up scattering them all over the drive breaking my grinder-picked them up again banged my head on the overhead garage door, booted the back of the car locked up went in the house ,the wife came in and said Hi love had a good day Had to bite my tongue :cry::cry:

Had rear drop links fitted been meaning to do it for weeks but a local mechanic ended up doing it as he only charged £20 to do them and the difference is amazing, handles better and no loud bangs anymore.(y)

One of those days when you wished you'd stayed in bed, Mike.
