What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Changed the drivers side front suspension arm with the help of my dad today.

Was a good job done, both rubbers were shot and the ball joint was very loose. Passenger side will be done at some point..

Are the old arms any use to anyone, can they be refurbished, or is it just a case of scrapping them?

Keep 'em they can usually be rehashed with replacement bushes and joints.

Providing the steel is solid I'm sure somebody would buy you a drink for them!

There's the answer then!

Scrap then mate.... Too long spent on MG forums here, knackered arms command a fair price, bit of confusion on my part!

Someone (can't remember who) was collecting spent wishbones at one point with the aim of looking into refurbishing them. Like I say, can't remember who and don't think anything came of it.

I guess they "could" be refurbished, it'd be a matter of either custom bushes or chancing something that happened to fit!

I guess mk2 Moonbat ones are a non-starter :-(

The only Mondeo to share the same wishbone design is the ST200, the limited application means it's just about a Ford only part at roughly £150/side as oppose to a choice of aftermarket parts at £30 ish for a normal Mondeo.

There is more work to them being a 4 bolt design but it's mostly the fact that there are very, very few aftermarket suppliers, and none at all in the UK, so you're at the mercy of Ford's and the prices they can charge for a part with a limited application. A couple of people imported some aftermarket ones from the States but found them to be a nightmare to fit.

Replaced rear drop links today a lot easier than I thought it would be, a bit of washing up liquid on the rubber bushes bunt screwdriver almost stright in, put my jack under the rear disc pumped until holes lined up bolt in tighten up let jack down wheel on, off stands recheck nuts half a hour job done then went to pub bit to eat and pint
