What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Took me a minute to realise that picture was rotated by 90[SUP]o[/SUP]. :LOL:

By the way, Apec brake pads are awful just... awful. Compared to even Motorcraft ones they're dusty, about as effective as a housebrick when cold, and suffer from catastrophic outgassing and fade when even remotely hot.

So they pretty much suck for about 75% of most people's driving and they're the only pads I've ever used that have actually scared me on the public highway (Matt will tell you I'm not a complete lunatic).
 
Thanks for that tip, i'll get them changed for something better, any recommendations ? Sorry about the picture , I've got to work out how to rotate it off the Cougar site!

Pagid, Mintex, or even plain old Motorcraft. All will have different wear characteristics (and dustiness) but any one of them is better than Apec, which is what your taxi driver got installed on his Prius.

Don't get me wrong; they are perfectly adequate and, if they weren't, the motor factors wouldn't be allowed to sell them. You're not in immediate danger or any such thing. It's just that in my experience and that of a few others here, we find them inferior to the other options available to you.

Originally i asked for some decent pads when i upgraded the callipers and discs, it was a while before i got round to fitting them , and guess what? They'd gave me the wrong pads, luckily they changed them for me, but obviously they gave me some s##t ones. I'll buy some Mintex ones.

Would that be light weight disc free braking, including a hole in the floor for application of shoe leather ?

Spent a good few hours this morning fine tuning my replacement fuel filler pipe. I've cut out the rotten steel and replaced it with high pressure petrol grade hose for both the filler and the breather, kept the original upper sections and the stub that goes into the tank and shaped a galvanised steel cage to hold the upper and lower sections in the same place as the original item. Today trial fitting has involved numerous fittings of the subframe and constant minor adjustments to my hose cage.
Bit of a faff but heck it is my hobby car so I shouldn't expect anything less, and of course it's all self inflicted. I'm hoping to end up with something better than the original, or certainly better than the replacement parts available.
Gave up waiting on a response from my plumbing colleague, too late I haven't got a sample to show him now.
 
Fitted a battery clamp so one job less for when the MOT finally comes around. Thanks to Andy for supplying the top bar and putting me on to a NOS threaded upright on ebay. Be lost without you mate(y)

If I can keep doing these little bits hopefully the more fundamental parts will fall into place.
