What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Dan, based on the first picture have you fitted the camera to the bottom of the rear bumper cover? Mine is in the license plate light mount because:

a) I shamelessly copied Manos, and as a modification it's completely reversible (if you'll pardon the pun!) and transferable to another car.
b) The rear license plate reveal never gets dirt/mud/salt in it, so the camera should stay usable during the winter.

I don't really know much about airflow back there, so it'd be great to see how you get on with it in that position.

Its on the bottom of the bumper cover.

I did mount it to the number plate light to start with but the camera is quite bulky and I didnt like the way it looked.

As for airflow ill find out if I arrive at my next destination sans camera or not! If it doesnt hold up where ive mounted it ill be looking at a smaller camera and mounting it onto the number plate light

I think it'll still be there. It's more a question whether it'll be dirty? That's what I'm interested about.

Yes, same 18mm unit that I have and installed in the same place.
 
things I have learned today.
I fitted jubilee clamps to the rubber / steel joins on my self fabricated replacement filler pipe, added some more hammerite to the welds and to the rear subframe. Refitted the petrol tank and the filler pipe. Fitting a tank half full of fuel isn't the easiest way to do this but I got there.
In fitting the replacement SS petrol tank straps I learned they are not a matched pair. I removed the drivers side one, gave it to a mate with his own fab workshop and told him to make me 2. He did, 3mm SS plate cut shaped and bent, perfect and cheap. But now I know the passenger side is shorter and a different shape. My next job will be to remove the Passenger side one, reshape it , rebend the 90 bend in my vice, re drill the hole and fit it. but that'll be next weekend.:(

I needed 2 new front tyres. Rather than spend £90 each getting new ones for my standard wheels, I thought I'd go for a new look and finally get new tyres for the 17" wheels that Chris (Mako) kindly gave me a few months back:

They still need a refurb (they're pretty crusty when you get up close) but that can wait till next year.

Looking around it while the fitter had the wheels off I noticed that the bolt that connects the rear ARB to the droplink has gone AWOL :)eek:), what size bolt do I need to replace it with?
 
I got the nut and washer from fordpartsuk using the FINIS code in the link Andy has posted for about £3

Its not listed on the site but if you use the contact us feature they do have it in stock (y)
 
...discovered I have no idea how to remove the radio - and I need to remove it to replace the bulbs that are blown behind my heater controls, seems the Cougar 2 doesn't have the holes for a normal removal tool...starting to think I'm getting too old for this... :oops:

Could try removing the centre console so youd have access to the back of the stereo to push it out (y)

Have you got an aftermarket headunit?
The C2 would have originally been fitted with a 6006e headunit which does have the holes for the 'normal' C shaped, two prong removal tools.

...Couldn't get the centre console completely out - no matter how hard I pulled the handbrake it wasn't high enough to allow removal, this did give me access to the back of the radio but still no idea how it's fixed in...thanks for response though... (y)

...no idea why they decided to alter it...maybe it's considered to be more secure - I prefer not fit radios in too well, otherwise the wretched scrotums that steal them destroy the dashboard to get it...
