What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Gave Claus an oil change today, the genuine filter never arrived so I put a Mann branded filter on (someone online cut some open and they are exactly the same as motorcraft, Bosch being the poorest of the 5 tested)
Must say I found it an easier job than on the Zetec, the filter is easier to get at.

Refitted some of the chrome trim around the rear quarter - the same stuff that worked loose on the M4 after the Forum Breaker weekend. Got some 3M double sided foam tape which has worked a treat. :)

One of the very few pros of owning a V6 Durapork. Yes the zetec oil filter is a pain to get at. ;)

Today, after a short run out, i finally finished cleaning the crapp off my steering wheel that i started at Castle Howard, weeks ago. Cheers Mart, those wipes work a treat (y)

For what it's worth, I have only ever used Mann filters on Tiger and although I've never actually had the oil tested, I've not had any problems with flow or filtration as far as I can tell.

The ones to look out for used to be Fram - they were basically made of sugar paper and old cheesegraters - but even they have stepped their game up these days.

That always bothered me; the first steps to changing your oil should not be, "Raise the OSF, remove roadwheel and arch liner". Not sure what the accessibility is like from underneath because I never tried, though presumably garages have a ramp procedure?

That and the fact that the plug is on the middle rear of the sump. I like to jack up the rear of the car to get the dregs out (K-Series) but you can't do that on a Zetec - you have to jack up on the front crossmember and that makes me very nervous.

What was on it, and what did you use to get rid? I usually use wet-wipes.

I always used to change my zetec oil filter from the engine bay, never had to remove anything to get to it? It was a tight fit but doable.
Getting the new one back on was a faff as it had to be done mainly by feel, and making sure it was tilted forward slightly till the thread engaged

Just years of crud from various previous owners sweaty paws, horrible stuff and makes the wheel sticky on long journeys but yes, just wet wipes did the job.(y)

Exactly this, but front end needs to come up to properly access the drain plug and allow the oil to drain out properly at a slight angle. Usually the mini ramps give enough height to get to the sump plug.

Sorted the dashcams out so both Wildcat and the IS now have one fitted. Started by removing the rear view mirror cam from the IS and fitted into Wildcat. Routed the long USB cable into the headlining, down the A-pillar, round the back of the glovebox, through and under the centre console so I can easily plug/unplug the power adaptor (important as the Cougar cig lighter is always live):

While the screen is active:

And when the screen is off (which is 99% of the time)

So the IS got the cheaper option (well, only the best for Wildcat!)

Did the same to Tiger some 6 years ago.

Wiring a (constantly live) USB power feed up to the OHC is beautifully easy on the Cougar. Almost like they knew we were going to do it.

What speakers are they Ricky? Speakers are on my todo list along with a DAB and BT head unit.

I've got an amp and sub in the spare room that came out of the JD. Been thinking of fitting it. Head unit and door speakers first though.

Thanks for the new vision guys, i have an idea :), also, i've had a pair of 9x7 speakers for over a year and must get round to fitting them VIBES? Will i need adapters?

What vision? :O (that threads in over 18s now lol)
I wouldnt think bigger would fit? After all you could mount the bracket but then the speaker screws would be hitting the door (after going through the mount?)
Never tried just my theory so probably wrong

There are adaptors out there but you also use mdf and you can make them yourself
