I doubt that journey would have been possible even with the draught coming in. My guess is that the earth strap that Dick has mentioned has worked loose, possibly due to a missed tightening up routine on re-assembly.

Dick's A/C is no longer. I cut it all out.

It never worked loose, it just was not connected. It has an eylet connection, not a spade connection.

Got my Cougar back today
A week ago my heater core failed and quite scared me (putting it politely). I couldn't see where I was going as the screen had fogged up and my son was frantically helping me to clear it. A horrible journey.
I ordered a new one and friends fitted it for me. Great to be back driving and having a warm interior again

I had no idea what was going on at the time but was relieved it was just this and nothing worse. The smell was horrible
A horrible thing to happen and a horrible job to do but glad to hear it's been fixed for you. You need that warmth this weather.

Finally changed the sump I went through with the jack. Just need to get this exhaust back together and do the starter motor now...
